Meryl is Iconic For More Reasons Than You Know

Meryl Streep is going to receive the Icon Award a the Palm Springs International Film Festival BECAUSE OF COURSE SHE IS. The woman is an institution. A living legend. The greatest living actor. Et cetera. Though, it’s probably fitting as her performance in August:Osage County is garnering some major accolades, including a Golden Globes nomination and a likely Oscar nod. She’s also won more nominations in both awards than any actor in history. So, yes, it’s quite fitting for the festival to bestow her with the “highest level of achievement” for her immense mark on the history of film.

Meryl has played a Prime Minister, a dubious fashion dictator, a harsh nun, a beloved chef, an addict, and basically everything in between. MERYL HAS DONE IT ALL. SHE IS EVERYTHING. Sure, she’s won oodles of awards for her most captivating roles in The Iron Lady, The Devil Wears Prada, Julie & Julia, The Hours, Doubt , and so on. However, there is SO MUCH MORE we can celebrate about Meryl Streep. As Cam in Modern Family’s first and best season noted, "Excuse me, Meryl Streep could play Batman and be the right choice. She's perfection, whether she's divorcing Kramer, whether she's wearing Prada, don't even get me started with Sophie's Choice."

So here’s to Meryl’s much deserved Icon Award and all of the achievements that aren’t celebrated enough:
