Look at Michael Fassbender playing Apple founder Steve Jobs in the new film Steve Jobs. What do you see? Do you see an actor with thinning hair, round glasses and a black turtleneck, making an effort to look like Steve Jobs? Do you see a more handsome, younger looking Steve Jobs? Or do you see something else entirely? No one would blame you if you did. Fassbender himself told an audience at the New York Film Festival recently that he knows he doesn't look a thing like Jobs, noting that the man who previously held the part, Christian Bale, held a much stronger resemblance to the tech genius. "Obviously, I don't look anything like Steve Jobs," Fassbender said. "That was the first thing I said to Danny [Boyle]. Christian Bale looks a lot more like Steve Jobs." Makeup, hair dye and brown contact lenses helped Fassbender look like Jobs as much as possible, and the wardrobe, particularly the wire glasses and black sweater, sealed the deal.
The resulting look certainly is convincing (though it helps that Jobs, while a known public figure, was relatively private). (Jobs may have been one of the most famous people in the world, but, unlike most Hollywood celebrities, his face was rarely plastered on the covers of weekly magazines, earning him a small amount of anonymity.)
Looking at Fassbender in Steve Jobs, he does look like the CEO, but he also looks like a lot of other people. Here are some other characters from famous films and television shows that Fassbender looks like in Steve Jobs .
The Creeper From Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory
Fassbender as Jobs might as well be twins with this creepy guy from the 1971 classic Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. There's a reason this film is known as one of the most terrifying children's films in existence. Creepy dude with glasses (aka Fassbender as Steve Jobs look-alike number one) is just the tip of the iceberg.
Ed Harris In The Truman Show
In the Truman Show, Ed Harris plays Christof, a director of the show who (spoiler!) has been manipulating the entire existence of Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey). The glasses, and the glassy stare behind them, that Harris uses in this role are a perfect double for Fassbender's Steve Jobs — evil geniuses, both of them!
Stanley Tucci In The Devil Wears Prada
OK, this one might seem like a bit of a stretch, but you can't deny that there does appear to be some resemblance between Stanley Tucci's Nigel in The Devil Wears Prada and Fassbender's fashionable Jobs.
Zeljko Ivanek In The Event
Remember The Event? Yeah, nobody else does either. This short lived NBC alien drama tried (and failed) to mimic the success of Lost and Heroes. But even if you don't know Ivanek from The Event, you know him from his lengthy resume, which features roles in Suits, True Blood, Revolution, Big Love, Heroes and Live Free or Die Hard.
Bill Hader As James Carville For SNL
I admit, this one is just for kicks. But, with all these balding or shaved headed men with glasses, I couldn't help but think of Bill Hader's Saturday Night Live impression of James Carville. #SorryNotSorry
Fassbender may not look an awful lot like Steve Jobs, but given the Oscar-buzz surrounding Steve Jobs , it's likely that won't matter to at all.
