Following the recent reports that Dean McDermott cheated on Tori Spelling, his wife of seven years, with a random woman in Canada, we've been waiting for Spelling's response. While she hasn't directly responded to the allegations, her recent blog post says a lot about how she's handling the situation.
Titled "Merry Christmas from the McDermotts!" the Dec. 25 post features a photo of the four McDermott children in front of their Christmas tree, captioned by a message from Spelling that includes the following.
I wanted to take a minute to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas, and for those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas, a very happy holiday season! As another year comes to a close, I can’t help but feel so grateful for all of my blessings. My beautiful family, my amazing friends, and of course, all of you!
We’re spending the day together – cuddling, cooking, baking, unwrapping gifts, eating, watching movies and counting our blessings...
The cheery message is signed from the entire family, including McDermott. For now, Spelling's statement seems to be that everything is fine in her marriage and family. With a slew of reality shows, the couple is used to sharing their family with whoever is interested, and by posting a happy, family-themed Christmas greeting, Spelling is showing that they're going about business as usual.
If the rumors continue or some more information is revealed however, Spelling may want to consider making an official statement. Sharing your family with the public means fans expect to hear your side of the story, and if this particular story doesn't die down, family photos will begin to hold less and less meaning.
Of course there is one possible explanation. Maybe the rumors about McDermott don't matter because Spelling has been married to Dermot Mulroney this whole time and no one realized.
