There is one celeb that has been wowing me again and again lately. She's totally captured my attention for fashion choices. Which celeb has me so besotted, at least when it comes to style? It's Dakota Johnson, who wore a black satin Dior dress to the amFAR event in Milan recently. The actress' A-line frock was simple, stunning, strapless, and shiny. I can't figure out which I crush on more — the actress or her Dior dress.
All I really know is that Dakota x Dior dazzles. And, ICYMI, Johnson's wine-colored and ruffly Gucci dress represented another upscale style win for her.
But back to her Dior frock. It was a neutral — although more of a charcoal shade than pitch black. There were also plenty of subtle details, like the skinny bows, which sat on each side of her hip. The geometric shape of her skinny and strappy heels matched the petite bows of the dress. Now, that's what I call coordination.
The frock had sheen, thanks to the satin fabric. Therefore, the Fifty Shades of Grey star didn't need to pile on a bunch of accessories to turn heads. The ice around her neck did the trick. It was just the right amount of bling and it called attention to the neckline.
The best word to describe Johnson's Dior dress is pretty. It was simple, yes, but that's why it was so lovely. There was a sprinkling of detail, like the bows. Then there was the flare of the skirt, which prevented it from veering off into too-classic territory.
The tea length, which is past the knee but above the ankle, can be tricky to pull off, since it hits mid-calf. When I am wearing this length dress, it's usually in a wedding and I'm wearing heels. I love the heel that Johnson wore for this look in particular. Definitely using this whole ensemble as future fashion inspiration for myself.
You can get a closer look at the baby bows here. They were pretty darling.
Johnson's shoulder-dusting lob was actually the perfect length for this dress, as well. It allowed her shoulders to be a focus, while the ends of her beachy waves drew the eye towards her necklace.
Her soft, rosy lipstick also added pop of color to her amazingly porcelain skin.
If you want to copy Dakota Johnson's lip look, since you likely can't copy her Dior dress, why not try Dior Addict Lipstick in Bold? It's rosy perfection. ($35, dior.com)
Or you can rock After Party, which is a similar rosy shade with a little more sparkle. ($35, dior.com)
Or you can grab Revlon's HD Lipstick in Peony. ($9.49, walgreens.com)
