Blake Opens Up About His Divorce From Miranda

by Allyson Koerner

Remember the day when it was announced that Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert were divorcing after four years of marriage? It was a shock to shippers of the couple, who made fans believe in love and become even bigger supporters of country music. Well, now Blake Shelton is talking about his divorce and just how shocked he is by how fast it happened. While chatting with the Bobby Bones Show Wednesday, The Voice coach revealed how quickly things officially ended for he and his former wife. He said,

In Oklahoma, it happens so fast. Like, Miranda and I didn't have any kids, and we had a prenuptial agreement, whatever we had. Once we filed for divorce, it was over in, like, I think it was like a nine or 10-day waiting period until it's over.

Compared to many celebrity divorces, which can take months or years, especially if children are involved, like Shelton said, his and Lambert's divorce was pretty fast. He continued, "We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that. By the time anybody knew anything, it was over... It was done." Isn't that the truth? The same day rumors began of their marriage ending, they announced their divorce and shocked pretty much everyone in the process.

With that said, neither of them are letting the divorce stop them from being friends. On July 25 (five days after they announced their split), Shelton and Lambert were super friendly on Twitter, which surprised many. Apparently, they prefer to keep their relationship civil, rather than going to a negative place.

Shelton confirmed this during his radio interview and said, "Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this, it is what it is. We're buddies."

Well, at least they can be "cool" about it, even if Shelton was surprised by their speedy split.
