Paul Walker's Last Film Will Be Released

by Lindsay Mannering

Ever since the tragic accident that took Paul Walker's life, fans and industry veterans alike have been wondering about the fate of his franchise. How will Universal put out the seventh installment of a car racing movie after their star just perished in a car accident? After rumors that the production had been shut down permanently gave way to evidence that it was simply delayed, we now have a concrete answer about when the movie will hit theaters. Walker's co-star and best friend Vin Diesel revealed that Fast & Furious 7's new release date is now April 10, 2015 instead of July 11, 2014. The actor posted the message to Facebook late Sunday night:

The last scene we filmed together… There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we've come… Fast and Furious 7 will be released… April 10th 2015! P.s. He'd want you to know first…

It's a nine month delay, which, when you think about it, isn't that long, considering the film must undergo a major rewrite. Walker was the star of the movie and not only will scenes need to be reshot, but story arcs need to change, as well. Half of his part in Fast 7 had been filmed, so it will be interesting to see how or if they decide to use any of that footage, and how or if they'll have his character die. While some think it would be fitting if Walker's character died a hero in an accident, others think it'd be tasteless and crude.

Walker's funeral last Sunday gave family and friends a final chance to say goodbye, and it looks like fans will have that chance come April, 2015, when the character and actor they loved gets to take his metaphorical last bow on screen.
