This Is What A Deep-Fried PSL Looks Like

by Kathryn Kattalia

It's not really fall if you don't consume at least one pumpkin spice latte. And you aren't really living your best life if you don't try at least one deep-fried pumpkin spice latte. I know it sounds crazy (insane, even), but that's where I need you to have a little faith. Faith in me, faith in the deep-fried powers that be, and faith that the pumpkin spice latte will be soul-quenching and amazing no matter what form it takes — even if that form is bite-sized pieces of crispy, cinnamon-doused perfection.

Still with me? To make our deep-fried PSL — aka the most epic fall feat you will ever accomplish — we had to get a little creative. You can't just toss a cup of coffee into a deep fryer, cross your fingers, and hope for a positive outcome; that's how kitchen accidents happen. Instead, we started with a few basic ingredients. First, we chopped pound cake into cubes. Then we soaked our cubes in — you guessed it! — a pumpkin spice latte. Five minutes in the deep fryer and a generous sprinkling of cinnamon-sugar later, our masterpiece was complete. We had a plate of pure fall magic, topped off with a swirl of whipped cream.

The result was just as decadent as you might imagine. Our deep-fried pumpkin spice latte cubes tasted like warm, mini cinnamon doughnuts dunked in coffee. They were perfect for nibbling on during a crisp autumn day. Of course, nothing can beat the original pumpkin spice latte — that thing's a legend for a reason, y'all — but this recipe comes pretty darn close.

Intrigued? Of course you are. Check out our video for the full tutorial:
