The Click Five's "Just The Girl" Video Is So '05
I forgot to get jam. That was the first thought that crossed my mind when I woke up Monday morning. Ugh, I was just at the store, too. Thanks, Mercury retrograde. What am I going to put on my toast? I mean, besides butter. Butter is great and all, but I really, really want raspberry jam. You could say I was in a bit of a jam jam. (Don't worry, the jam jokes have only just begun.) I knew what I had to do. I had to force myself out of bed, get ready for the day, grab a reusable shopping bag, and drive over to the closest grocery store before morning rush hour began (I wasn't about to get stuck in a traffic jam over jam). As I pulled into the store parking lot, something on Sirius XM’s Pop2k station caught my ear: “Just the Girl” by the Click Five.
I can't remember the last time I heard this, I thought. I knew what I had to do. I had to crank the volume and sit in my car like a weirdo parking lot lurker until the song ended. 15 minutes later, I was back in my kitchen with a jar of jam in my hand and a jam of tune in my mind. All in all, the mission was a success.
“Just the Girl” was the first single off of the power pop band’s 2005 debut album, Greetings from Imrie House. Can't believe this song is 10 years old? Me either. Well, until I revisited the music video, that is. Here are the most early '00s-y things from the "Just the Girl" music video:
This Hairstyle
It's very Degrassi: The Next Generation Season 3 Ashley Kerwin.
This Adrianne Curry Cameo
The America’s Next Top Model winner and then-beau Christopher Knight were the *~reality TV it couple~* of this era.
This Christopher Knight Cameo
Oh, what do you know? It's Peter Brady! The other half of 2005's reigning *~reality TV it couple~*! He plays Adrianne’s teacher! That isn't weird at all!
The Passing Of A Note
Wait, are kids still be scribbling messages to each other on sheets of college ruled notebook paper? I assume the advent of the text message rendered passing notes obsolete, but I could be wrong.
This Wrist Cuff
Very Hot Topic chic.
This Hairstyle
This frosted, tousled hairdo is so wonderfully early '00s.
All Of The Fashion
Layered camis! Terry cloth tube tops! Low-rise jeans! The gang’s all here!
Special Shoutout To This Necktie Belt
Be still my heart.
This Hair Flip
Every time an emo kid flips their bangs out of their eyes, a copy of Saves the Day's In Reverie gets its wings.
This Flip Phone
Whoa, a flip phone? I didn't get my mitts on a flip phone until 2007. This guy was livin' large.
Excuse Me, This Camera Phone
HIS FLIP PHONE COMES WITH A CAMERA, TOO? I bet that dude *~RuLeD tHe ScHoOL~*.
Oh, "Just the Girl." I've missed you so much. I'm so happy you are back in my life. You were just the jam I was looking for.
