Bad news for Selena Gomez fans in Asia and Australia: Though the former Disney star was set to perform a series of 13 shows across Asia and Australia in early 2014 — from Tokyo to Melbourne — The Huffington Post reports that Selena Gomez has canceled the Asia/Australia leg of her tour, to instead "spend some time" on herself.
The announcement came in a statement, which was released through LiveNation: "My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them...but it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me."
Though this seems slightly worrying and pretty unlike Gomez (not that I follow tabloid news about Selena Gomez...yes, yes I do), sources close to the star clarified that Gomez "is OK," but "just realized it was time to take a break for herself. She's been working non-stop for six years. She hit a wall. She wants to spend time with her family, especially for the holidays."
Fair enough, really — Disney works their stars to the bone, and since leaving, Selena hasn't really taken time to step out of the public eye what with her tumultuous relationship with Justin Bieber, her new album, her tour, and all the promotion she did for Spring Breakers. In other words, you go, girl. Being lazy and watching Netflix at home is truly the good life, anyway.
