The Most Memorable Emmy Award Dresses Of All Time
It's Emmys time, people! Before you ooh and ah or gasp and shudder at this year's celebrity fashion choices, give yourself some background context with the most memorable Emmy dresses of all time (in my humble opinion).
While some people say the Oscars is where it's at, I personally have always loved Emmys fashion, and I can't wait to see what outfits this year's brilliant Amy Schumer, Mindy Kaling, and Amy Moss will be wearing! I love each of their unique styles and willingness to take risks with their looks. Of course, there will be plenty of other major stars present that will be sure to dazzle Sunday night's events. Make sure to grab your popcorn, your girls (and guys), favorite bottle of wine, because the red carpet is bound to inspire.
In case you're wondering, the Emmy Awards first started in 1949, so sorting through the most memorable dresses ever is no easy task. It's impossible to feature every celebrity that deserves to be on here, so I had to implement some rules to narrow it down. First, the dress had to be a dress (no pant suits, skirts, or jumpers were considered, although it was hard to leave them out!). Secondly, the actress had to look like she liked the dress (no one's outfit should ever make them sad). Lastly, awesome hair and makeup were allowed to influence my picks. Because, duh.
Can I get a drumroll please?
1. 2004, Sarah Jessica Parker
Leave it to SJP to top this list with this stunning Chanel couture number.
2. 2012, Ginnifer Goodwin
Goodwin's flowy, sheer dress was as hot in 2012 as it would be now! Fingers-crossed she wears something similar this Sunday.
3. 1974, Mary Tyler Moore
This comedy queen's gown is the epitome of classic sparkle Hollywood!
4. 2000, Jennifer Aniston
Awww the Brad and Jen days. Though times have obviously changed, her lovely red dress proves simplicity is timeless.
5. 2008, Olivia Wilde
I mean, can I just get engaged already so this can be my wedding dress?!
6. 2013, Sofia Vergara
Firecracker on high!
7. 2005, Halle Berry
This dress is still one of my all-time favorites. Berry is basically wearing a fitted waterfall!

Applegate's geisha-inspired look will definitely not soon be forgotten.
9. 2012, Emilia Clarke
This Game of Thrones goddess slayed in an edgy tea-length floral dress.

Long sleeves never looked so good.
11. 2013, Rose Byrne
Pretty in pink is a total understatement.
12. 2011, Kelly Osbourne
She may have been working that night, but she definitely stole the spotlight from some of the nominees that year.

Hi, January Jones. You are gorgeous. Love, the world.
