Being on Dancing With The Stars is quite the proposition: It’s certainly a lot of work, with plenty of long hours and late nights with a person that is not your significant other. Luckily, one married couple may have solved that problem — Alexa and Carlos PenaVega elected to both compete on Dancing With The Stars Season 21. Alexa is matched with Mark Ballas, while Carlos is dancing with Witney Carson, and both members of the PenaVega family really brought the dance game to a new level on the show’s premiere.
One would think that there would be a bit of competition between the pair, but… there isn't. Not really. Alexa and Carlos mostly just make fun of each other, with the gentle, funny ribbing that you can expect from a couple that really actually likes each other. In my eyes, Alexa and Carlos and their respective partners did very well in their opening dances, but what did the judges say? Carrie Ann Inaba said that Carlos’ dance was “one of the best of the night”, and Carlos and Witney scooped up an eight from Carrie, an eight from Julianne Hough, and a seven (boo) from Bruno Tonioli. Not to be outdone, Alexa and Mark nabbed a seven from Carrie, a seven from Julianne, and an eight from Bruno. Not too shabby, but Carlos came on top in this round.
So what did this couple do? Well, nothing. They hugged and smooched and Carlos made an awkward-but-hilarious comment on national television about Alexa’s sexy outfit and bringing it home. Seriously, these two are so fun and supportive of each other that there is just zero competition between them. Maybe things will get more heated as the contest presses on, but for now, Alexa and Carlos PenaVega are just an adorable couple that I need to watch every week. But please don’t make me choose whom I love more — I won’t be able to.
