Rihanna Kicks Off NYFW With Blue Lips

It's safe to say that every week is Fashion Week for Rihanna. Now that the rest of the world has caught up to the the stylish singer-model-mogul, Rihanna, wearing blue lipstick, celebrated the official start of NYFW with a dinner for her famous friends, followed by a killer block party that took over 24th street.

Despite the rain, RiRi partied in the VIP tent with guests like Pharell, Timbaland, and Wiz Khalifa. Famous friends like Kim Kardashian West, Kanye West, and Alexa Chung were also there, and Gigi Haddid and Lindsey Wixson came by after the Fashion Media Awards uptown. And what's a party without cocktails? (Or mocktails for the under-21 set.) Rihanna and friends toasted with custom cocktails like Murder Rih Wrote, a drink that has the same name as one of her new sock styles for her Stance collection. Now that I think about it, it's kind of weird that a cocktail and a sock have the same name, right?

For the shindig, in true '90s-child fashion Rihanna rocked blue lipstick and bobby pin-studded updo, layers of choker necklaces and a crushed velvet maxi dress, but all eyes, it seemed, were on her mouth.

It turns out, Rihanna's best friend Leandra launched a lipstick line called Free Spirit, and the "BBHMM" singer is a fan of the line's bold shades like Purple Haze, which she shared via a snap on Instagram, quickly leading the lipstick to sold-out status. This blue shade may be a new color from Free Spirit; wonder if it it's the now also sold out Blue Lust?

In any case, this isn't the first time she's experimented with bold lip colors; she first debuted a blue lipstick look in London in 2013, when she designed a collection for River Island, the British high-street retailer.

She also killed it in green lipstick a year later, at the IHeartRadio Music Awards in 2014, which she paired with Gwen Stefani channeling hair.
