Kirk Just Shocked Everyone On 'BiP'

Viewers have been happily watching Kirk and Carly be perfect together on Bachelor in Paradise since the very first episode. Carly immediately fell super hard for Kirk (like doodle his name in her notebook and name their children hard), and Kirk seemed to really dig her too. But it was their sweet fantasy suite date just sealed the deal for them, and they seemed to be a shoo-in for staying together post-Paradise. That is, of course, until Carly and Kirk called it quits during the two-night finale. So, why did Kirk and Carly break up when things seemed to be going so well?

On Sunday's episode, everything started out all peaches and cream for these two. When Juelia made a fast, heartbroken exit from paradise, a concerned Carly gushed about her guy, saying, "Juelia came here to find what me and Jade found." Adorable, right? Unfortunately, no.

Kirk later shocked Bachelor Nation when he suddenly expressed very serious doubts about their future together in a private conversation with Tanner. Not able to wait any longer and not wanting to further lead Carly along, Kirk made the move to tell her immediately. Essentially, she'd just moved further along in the relationship than he had. Poor Carly was blindsided, even jokingly asking, "Are you breaking up with me?" Kirk poured his heart out and carefully explained that he wasn't ready for the commitment that she was. Carly pulled every heart string we had as she tried to stay strong, but all she could say was, "I want to go home" and "I'm going to throw up" and eventually, she completely broke down. (I, on the other hand, took this moment to pour another glass of wine while pondering whether or not love is real.)

What's more is that even their fellow BiP contestants were distraught. They watched the entire thing go down from above and their shocked faces said it all. Who could have seen this coming? The girls all broke down along with her and couldn't reconcile the complete turn of feelings that had just occurred at what seemed like the drop of a hat.

How could this happen? What went wrong in this seemingly perfect pairing of hot humans? Will the sun even rise tomorrow?

These two were fan favorites throughout the season. They used the #Janner playbook, keeping themselves away from drama and as a result, seemed to be forming a pretty perfect connection. Everyone saw them going the distance, so their relationship's demise comes as a real shot in the gut to those of us who became absurdly invested in their union. All I can think of in order to mend my betrayed heart is the fact that their celebrity mashup name would have been the snooze-worthy Karly or Cirk. So, maybe this was for the best.
