The Weeknd's VMAs Performance Is A Must-See

by Tanya Ghahremani

There was a lot to be excited about when it came to this year's MTV Video Music Awards: Taylor Swift premiered her new music video for "Wildest Dreams," Miley Cyrus hosted, Nicki Minaj opened the show, and Kanye West received the Video Vanguard Award. But, one of the most exciting things? The Weeknd performed his song "Can't Feel My Face" following a major amount of anticipation, and, sure enough, it did not disappoint.

Of course, this is no surprise: The Weeknd is one of the most talented musician in the industry at the moment, and from the moment his MTV VMAs performance was announced, it was obvious that we were all going to be in for a major treat come Sunday evening. "Can't Feel My Face" is a song that allows for a lot of flexibility when it comes to how it's performed. Take the music video, for instance: The Weeknd begins performing the song slowly, before moving toward a frenzied pace. His MTV VMAs performance was similar to this — except even better.

Though the performance started out calmly — much like the song itself — it picked up as seconds passed, to the point where it was enough to make Kanye West get out of his seat and dance. Kanye West! Dancing! By the time the pyrotechnics kicked in, the performance was in full force, and a total must-see.

I'm not joking when I say that West will be all of you when you watch this performance. The Weeknd — congratulations. You've done it.
