Almost all women know that the best all purpose ensemble consists of a little black dress and some great accessories. It's versatile and chic without being too much drama, and apparently, the color has something to do with the appeal, too. In a survey by British based buytshirtsonline, wearing black was perceived most positively among other colors that were polled in terms of judgements they ellict. Apparently, if you rock that LBD out on the town or throw on a great pair of black skinnies, you're basically asking for people to think you're awesome.
For the survey, 1000 people were polled, and while that may seem like kind of a small sample size, some information can be gleaned from the data. The super cool revelations included the fact that black beats out every other color polled in several key categories including confidence and intelligent.
According to buytshirtsonline.co.uk, "56 percent of respondents in [the] survey favoured black as a colour of confidence." That's over half which means that the black blazer and pant combo you were thinking about rocking to that job interview next week is a good choice. The website listed a super useful guide on what colors to wear for different occasions, and as no surprised, black was first in nearly all of the categories— which did include some tongue in cheek listings.
