How Did The Weeknd & Bella Hadid Meet?

There is a new it couple on the rise. And it seems like their "it" thing is being super low-key. There have been reports about The Weeknd and Bella Hadid dating flying around since as early as May, but they have only seemingly confirmed their relationship this month with a telling Instagram shot. Ahead of the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 30, fans and followers of the couple might be hoping to see them hit the red carpet together. And in the meantime, some might be wondering how The Weeknd and Bella Hadid met.

Well, it sounds like it was not exactly love at first sight between the model and the R&B singer. Reportedly, they first met through being introduced by Hadid's famous model sis Gigi. But it seems like this year's Coachella was when they really clicked and hit it off. Sources told E! Online that the pair were flirting a lot at the music festival, where The Weeknd was part of the lineup as a performer. One source dished, "They have many things in common and really enjoyed each other's company. She loves his music as well. They are hanging out for sure now." And it seems like the down-low couple has been going strong ever since.

A good sign of the pair's strength as a couple is their ability to be understanding and accommodating to each other's feelings about being in the spotlight. Though the pair may have a lot in common, in regard to cameras, they have an entirely different opinion. Hadid, of course, is a model, so the 18-year-old has a very positive attitude toward cameras flashing and does not mind being photographed. After all, that is part of her job. The Weeknd, on the other hand, is notorious for being extra camera-shy. Sometimes the 25-year-old even covers his face when he is being snapped by the paparazzi while out and about, even while he is with Hadid. The fact that they are able to work past their different perspectives on being on the limelight points toward good things in terms of staying power.

Another good sign of the couple's staying power is that The Weeknd already has approval from Hadid's sister. It sort of makes sense, considering that she was reportedly the reason they met in the first place. But still, it had to be a great moment for Hadid when her sister publicly called The Weeknd her "brother."
