The MTV Video Music Awards are coming up on Sunday, and, while there has been as much build-up and drama as always, there's one clear piece of information that has nothing to do with winners or losers and is a total mystery. Who will be performing at the 2015 MTV VMAs? Only one performance is confirmed for the actual show, which leaves the rest up to our imagination for now. Update: On Wednesday, MTV announced more 2015 VMAs performers, including Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Demi Lovato, Pharrell, and Twenty One Pilots.
During the pre-show, Nick Jonas will be performing "Levels" (and promoting Scream Queens, let's be real). Walk The Moon will be performing "Shut Up And Dance" during that time as well. At the ceremony, the only confirmed performance at this time is The Weeknd, who will perform "I Can't Feel My Face." What else is coming?
I think we would have heard by now if, say, Beyonce or One Direction was going to perform. So, here are my predictions. This list is highly opinionated. I personally would rather not hear the Andy Grammer song "Honey I'm Good" if at all possible. I'm all for knowing your limits, but it kind of skeeves me out that this dude can measure in alcohol how likely he is to cheat on his girlfriend. Is that commendable? Not really? It is a catchy song though. I'm sure that Miley Cyrus, as hostess, will do something. Other than that, this is who I think we should expect to see performing based on their overall popularity and success during the past year.
1. Kanye West
This year, West will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award so it's likely that he'll perform.
2. Fifth Harmony
The group rocked the pre-show and took home some awards last year, so it's likely that they'll have their big moment, especially if the performances continue to focus on the "Song Of The Summer" nominees.
3. Taylor Swift
This one is debatable. She's definitely debuting a video during the show. However, Taylor Swift has been on tour for the past couple of months and probably hasn't had time to rehearse a performance for the VMAs, despite her multiple nominations. Hopefully, if she does take the stage, she's joined by one of her growing army of collaborators from the 1989 Tour. I've been loving these duets!
4. Rachel Platten
"Fight Song" is sure to be the talk of the 2016 VMAs, so I wouldn't be surprised if she performed.
5. OMI
Look, "Cheerleader" has been topping the charts for ages. I also think it would be a good song for a surprise collaboration. You know what I mean? It's such a simple, relatable song that a lot of other artists could add their signature to it and make the performance something to talk about.
6. Fetty Wap
He's up for three awards, killed at the MTV Movie Awards, and has multiple hit singles at the moment. Everyone should book Fetty Wap.
7. Mark Ronsen & Bruno Mars
Bruno Mars did not perform at the VMAs in 2014, always puts on a great live show, and "Uptown Funk" took over the world this year. We wouldn't be representing the year that was in music if we didn't hear that song one more time.
8. Demi Lovato
Twitter is all abuzz about a possible VMA performance after Demi Lovato tweeted that she has exciting news. Could she be performing "Cool For The Summer" at the VMAs? We'll have to wait and find out, but I wouldn't be surprised.
