Growing up with sensitive skin has made me super cautious about the fall and winter season. With colder temperatures right around the corner, I've found that adding DIY jojoba oil recipes to your skincare routine can help tremendously. I've basically tried all sorts of different natural ingredients to keep my skin conditioned and prepped for the cold season, from avocado to coconut oils. Throughout all of my experiments, I've found there's just something about jojoba oil that hits the mark and keeps my skin feeling great.
Instead of just applying jojoba oil, however, I decided to look up ways to incorporate the special ingredient to DIY recipes. The research was overwhelming and has proved that I've been underestimating my beloved jojoba oil, for real. From eye creams to lip balms, jojoba oil apparently can work for any and all dry skin issues. The best part is they're pretty simple to try, too.
As a person who suffers from super dry skin in the winter, you can imagine how excited I was when I discovered all the different ways I could incorporate it into my skincare routine. While I am completely satisfied with using my jojoba oil straight out of the bottle, I've reached happiness on a whole new level from learning about these recipes.
If you're anything like me and already love jojoba oil, but want to make more use out of it, here are some recipes that will seriously change your skin care game.
1. Facial Mask
I love how she incorporated jojoba oil into a facial mask — genius! Her ingredients were half a cup of oats (ground up), one and a half tablespoons of honey (she suggests raw honey), one and a half tablespoons of coconut oil, and one and a half tablespoons of Greek yogurt! Voila — pure magic.
2. Lip Balm
OK, first of all, I LOVE that this beauty blogger put the lip balm in recycled EOS packages. Efficient and environment-friendly? I think yes. In her recipe, she recommends using a half teaspoon of beeswax, a quarter teaspoon of coconut oil, a quarter teaspoon of jojoba oil (or olive oil), and one or two drops of flavoring for color. So pretty and useful all at the same time. Amazing.
3. Eye Cream
Dry skin and/or wrinkles? Yeah, jojoba oil can definitely fix that, too. For this recipe, this beauty blogger used an array of my favorite ingredients including coconut oil and evening primrose oil. This recipe is definitely one to try.
4. Body Wash
This is seriously so cool. I love how jojoba oil can be used for body wash! Who knew? The beauty blogger incorporates a lot of great ingredients like agave syrup and castile soap. For a small portion of body wash, she recommends three tablespoons of castile soap, three tablespoons of raw honey or agave syrup, two tablespoons of jojoba oil, vitamin E oil or olive oil, and an essential oil of your choice.
5. Body Butter & Sugar Scrub
I completely freaked out when I saw this video. Body butter and sugar scrub? Is this for real? This is basically the solution to all my dry skin winter problems. Along with jojoba oil, this beauty blogger's recipes included unrefined organic shea butter and white sugar. Smooth skin city, here I come.
