Candice Swanepoel Is Engaged

Congratulations are in order for Candice Swanepoel, who is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Hermann Nicoli. The Victoria's Secret Angel announced the news on Instagram on August 22 with a romantic black and white video of them dancing. In it, Swanepoel is seen wearing a diamond engagement ring.

Swanepoel captioned her engagement video with "Meu eterno namorado," which translates to "My eternal boyfriend" in Portuguese (Nicoli's native language). The couple met in Paris 10 years ago when the South African-born model was 17 at the time and had just started her career in fashion. Swanepoel has since become one of the most recognizable faces representing Victoria's Secret as one of the brand's beloved Angels. In 2011, Forbes named her one of the World's Top-Earning Models. Her Brazilian beau Nicoli is also a model.

Aside from her success on the runway, Swanepoel has branched out into charity work and even a little bit of fashion design. Earlier this year, she collaborated on a denim line to raise funds for mothers2mothers, a charity organization helping to prevent pediatric AIDS. Swanepoel is also a vocal opponent of the illegal hunting of animals in Africa. She was one of several fashion celebrities who mourned the senseless killing of Cecil the Lion last month.
