Fall Is Coming! Here Are 3 Staple Sweaters 3 Ways

by Jenna Wexler

"Sweater weather" means different things to different people. For some, it is simply a state of mind. It means getting cozy with a long Netflix queue, curling up with your favorite cuddle buddy (human or plush), and drinking hot cocoa as the temperatures drop. For me, sweater weather definitely achieves those ideals, but I take it a bit more literally. There is no such thing as having too many sweaters — whether they're chunky turtlenecks, classic crews, marled knits, oversized cardigans, cropped ribbed numbers, or throwback cable knits. In other words, it's the absolute best time of year.

If you're stockpiling sweaters like I am, then it’s helpful to think about their versatility. When you invest in a piece of clothing, it should be able to work with a variety of things in your closet. The perfect sweater should pair easily with jeans, skirts, or even dresses, and it should layer effortlessly with your favorite shirts and outerwear. Beyond that, you should be able to throw on your sweater as-is and feel cozily put together all day.

We’ve teamed up with Abercrombie & Fitch to test out this theory and explore the many ways you can wear your favorite sweater staples this fall. We styled a chunky pullover, fitted crop, and oversized cable knit so you have all the fall fashion inspo you need to take you through the colder months — no matter what you choose as your signature sweater.
