Meet 'Joy,' Jennifer Lawrence's Newest Character
Get ready to meet Joy, Jennifer Lawrence's new character. We were already introduced to her, courtesy of the first Joy trailer, but the poster gives us another look at the upcoming movie. Spoiler alert: The epicness is only getting more epic.
According to Joy's official site, the movie is:
... the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy’s inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces.
In other words, expect Lawrence to once more deliver the performance of a lifetime. Although the Joy poster looks simple at a first glance — it features a solo shot of Lawrence, rocking aviators and staring up at the sky — it definitely gives us some hints at what we can expect regarding the movie. Here are some things the Joy poster tells us.
1. This Is A New Character For Lawrence
Not only is it set in a different era, but she seems completely different from Katniss Everdeen, Rosalyn Rosenfeld or any other of Lawrence's roles.
2. But She'll Bring Her Signature Energy To The Role
From the leather jacket to the mirrored aviators, you can just tell this isn't a meek character.
3. Snow Is A Big Deal
It's present in the trailer, it's present in the poster. Snow plays some kind of role in the movie.
4. Lawrence's Performance Will Drive The Movie
The poster is 100 percent Lawrence. Of course, she plays the title character, but the poster confirms this will be a Lawrence-centric project.
5. It Will Feature David O. Russell's Carefully Crafted Chaos
There's something about the way Lawrence looks up toward the sky that hints of something bigger.
6. This Will Not Strictly Be A Silver Linings Playbook Reunion
Yes, Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper also get nods on the poster, but the movie already seems leagues away from SLP.
7. This Movie Will Make Christmas Break Even Better
It's hitting theaters just in time for the end of the year!
