Carly Rae Jepsen's "Your Type" Will Give You Feels

Just when you thought weekends couldn't get any better, Carly Rae Jepsen has gone and dropped "Your Type" — a whole new single! — just in time for all our summer festivities. That's right: Ladies, gents, and Tom Hanks of the world, "Your Type" is here, and it is everything you could want from a Carly Rae Jepsen tune. It's catchy, it's about love, and it will make you want to dance your mojito-loving heart out. Unlike her smash hit "Call Me Maybe" and her latest hit, "I Really Like You," this new tune drops the bubble gum for a slightly edgier sound. There are some major Taylor Swift/1989 vibes going on — so much so, that you may find your local hipster hideout cafe bumping it... non-ironically. Seriously, "Your Type" is just a great pop song from start to finish and now, I can't wait for Jepsen's next album E•MO•TION .

The song is chock-full of romantic woes that will a chord with anyone who has a heart. The premise is simple, and after listening to it roughly 10 times in a row, I couldn't ask for anything more: it's about a girl who loves someone who is with someone else. And that someone else is so TOTALLY wrong for him. The right thing is staring at him right in the face, but he's too blind to see it. Blind, BLIND I SAY!

I dare you to listen to this and not get all of the feels/think back wistfully on the crushes of high school dances past. Like, lt will make you want to dance-cry harder than Robyn's "Dancing On My Own." Don't believe me? Let's walk through its most heartbreak-y lyrics:

I don't know about you, but "Your Type" just became one of my favorite songs of the Summer. If Jepsen keeps turning out tunes as solid as this, I have a feeling she'll be around a lot longer than her "Call Me Maybe" days would have you believe. There's no One Hit Wonder happening, it's more like a pop star finding her style, one ear worm at a time.
