Ariel Winter's Best Quotes About Body Positivity
Being a teenager is hard. Most of us have to deal with mean girls and immature boyfriends, but Ariel Winter had to deal with something that few of us can relate to: growing up in Hollywood, where every aspect of her life and body are picked apart by the media and online commenters. Not only is her decision to publicly discuss her breast reduction with Glamour refreshing, but Ariel Winter's quotes about body positivity are also downright inspiring.
When Winter was 15 years old, she went through a growth spurt practically overnight, much like the rest of us (I personally remember the struggles of growing roughly four inches the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school), and in Winter's case, part of that growth spurt was size 32F breasts, which isn't an easy thing to navigate when you're only 15, especially when everyone is talking about your new body.
Winter admitted that she didn't feel totally comfortable in her body, so two months ago she underwent surgery to reduce her breasts to a 34D and feel exponentially more like herself. Because of this, she wanted to share her story—and body positive message—with the world, so that other teenage girls could know that they're not alone.
Here are the best body positive quotes from her Glamour interview:
1. On her new shape
"You feel like a new person. You feel like this is how I was supposed to be."
2. On her breast reduction
"I got it for myself. I can’t even really put it into words about how amazing it feels to really feel right."
3. On attending award shows
"You have to do your best to look confident and stand up tall."
4. On her decision to be a 34D
"I enjoy being a curvier girl! I don’t want to be disproportionate again."
5. On loving her shape
"I have a big butt, I like having a big butt."
6. On her decision to go public
"It’s something that I did to better my life and better my health and I think that that can benefit a lot of young girls. I have felt more happy with myself than I ever have."
Rock on, Ariel.
