Wren & Ali Could Have A Pre-'PLL' Past
Fans are mere hours away from the final, all-telling, Big A reveal in Pretty Little Liars' Season 6 summer finale, and so many signs point back to Wren being Charles DiLaurentis. It's kind of weird, considering the fact that we haven't seen Wren in 49 episodes. Know what's even weirder? Out of the 20 episodes that we have seen him in, Wren has never once interacted with Ali. Trust me, I combed through a heck of a lot of PLL episodes to realize that. He's a huge A suspect right now, so even though we've never seen them together, could Wren know Ali?
We first meet Wren in the Pretty Little Liars pilot, after Ali has disappeared. The Liars come across Wren hanging out at the Hastings' house, since he is engaged to Melissa. During this time, Ali is still presumed dead. By the time Ali does come back to Rosewood, Wren is now the MIA one, after spending time supposedly volunteering at Radley. He's come up in conversation a few times since them, but last we saw him it was Season 4, Episode 10, "The Mirror Has Three Faces." The fact that Ali is alive isn't confirmed until the 13th episode of that season, "Grave New World," and she doesn't make her grand return to Rosewood until the beginning of Season 5.
As far as the series has shown us, Alison doesn't know Wren, because we've never seen the two of them together. However, that could have been very intentional, so that when the time came to reveal Wren as Charles, we were even more shocked. For all of the clues that point to Wren being Big A, watch the video below, then read on for a few other ways Ali could have known Doctor Kingston.
Wren Is Beach Hottie
First, let me remind you that Beach Hottie is completely different from Board Shorts. Board Shorts is Ezra, named after the beer he likes to drink. Beach Hottie is a guy who Ali had a relationship with in Cape May the summer before she disappeared, which lead to a pregnancy scare. Because of this relationship, Wren can only be Beach Hottie or Charles, since clearly those two characters cannot be the same. So if Wren isn't unmasked in "Game Over, Charles" I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he spent time with Ali in Cape May.
Ali Met Wren At Radley
As far as we know, Ali has never spent time in Radley as a patient. However, she could've visited Radley during her friendship with CeCe. Remember, CeCe checked herself into Radley while pretending to be Ali, and it almost made Mrs. D explode. Ali could have pulled a Radley prank like that, too, and maybe stumbled upon Wren in the process.
Similarly, they could have easily met at the Rosewood Hospital, too. Wren's bounced around through a few different medical facilities before.
CeCe Has Something To Do With This
Going back to both of the above things: CeCe was around that summer with Beach Hottie, and she's also been to Radley. CeCe is roughly the same age as Wren and we know that they've interacted a few times (like when Wren gave her a visitor's pass to see Mona). Maybe they had past history, and Ali met Wren through her friend. For more theories, check out Bustle's PLL podcast, Taking This One To The Grave, below.
The N.A.T. Club
Maybe I'm just constantly looking for ways to bring the N.A.T. Club back into the fold of PLL, because it still bothers me, but I think this is a legitimate theory. It's never been fully explained as to how Melissa and Wren met for the first time. Is there anyway that he could have been a part of the N.A.T. Club? He would've seen Ali on the tapes, she would've seen him on them when she took everything from Ian, giving them a sense of each other.
Whether or not he's Charles, I think it's clear that there's still a lot we don't know about Wren Kingston. Hopefully, Pretty Little Liars will eventually reveal his true story, but in the meantime, check out the video below for some PLL virgins' thoughts on A.
