Serena Williams Looks Amazing On 'New York' Cover

by Amy Sciarretto

September magazine covers, which are the biggest of a fashion-driven publication's calendar year, have been landing left and right. I have to say that the one cover that turns my head the most is New York 's fall fashion issue, featuring Serena Williams. The tennis ace looks ridiculously hot in a slinky and sexy LBD with a major slit. The cover is dated for late August, but given it's fashion-y nature, I think we can throw it into the other September issues regardless. This cover is landing amid some of the biggest of the season and it certainly goes head-to-head with the rest.

It's not just Williams' averted gaze or her strong, sculpted body that makes this cover a "wow" moment. It's not her minimal makeup, which works to show off her natural beauty. It's not her clingy, curve-hugging dress or that little flash of thigh. Although, yes, all of those things are pretty great on their own. For me, the best part of this cover is how Williams has her hands over her head, folded over one another, reaching for the sky.

It makes me think of how athletes like Serena Williams continue to fight their way to the top, shattering the glass ceiling for women. It may be unintentional or I may just be reading too much into it. No matter what I see when I look at it, one thing is for sure: This is an incredibly powerful cover.

I also love that Williams is not a obvious choice, like Miley Cyrus for Marie Claire or Taylor Swift for Vanity Fair . She is becoming a fashion ace, that's for sure, with her HSN line. It's amazing to see her so glam.

The New York cover isn't Williams' sole glam moment of 2015. This blush gown was stellar.

Those curves slay.

She wears flowing, white dresses so well. The details elevated this dress, especially that peek-a-boo keyhole of the bodice.

Williams has worn clingy silhouettes in the past, like this navy blue frock worn in 2014. It's like this dress was made for her. It was a total fashion win.

I look forward to seeing even more glam moments from Serena Williams through the rest of 2015 and beyond.
