Kim Kardashian's Most Influential Selfies

by Jamie Primeau

Among her many roles — entrepreneur, reality star, author, video game creator — Kim Kardashian has definitely earned the title of "Selfie Queen." (I'm surprised a little emoji crown doesn't hover above her head wherever she goes!) After all, it's hard to deny the power of someone who published an entire book of self-portraits — 445 pages to be exact. With a simple snapshot, she can get people talking about a topic, which can actually spur some sort of social change. I'm not even being sarcastic when I say that Kim K. possesses a lot of power when wielding her iPhone camera — and she proved it when, over the weekend, Kardashian posted a selfie with Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner, captioned, "The parent trap."

I'm guessing (or at least I sure hope) Kardashian has seen the beloved Lindsay Lohan flick at least once in her lifetime, but maybe it's been awhile, so she's not entirely familiar with the plot. While the caption doesn't entirely make sense (unless she has a hidden British twin that none of us know about), it's an important picture nevertheless. It's valuable because it shows a reunion that definitely must not have been easy for either Caitlyn or Kris. With Caitlyn Jenner's public transition, it's been unknown how she and her ex-wife are getting along, as they haven't spent much time together in recent months. As seen on a few episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, it hasn't been a painless process for Kris; we saw her break down during a talk with Kim over what she felt was a major loss in her life. Yet she's been vocal about being a supportive ex-wife, regardless of how hard it may be.

The fact that these two spent time together to celebrate their youngest daughter Kylie Jenner's birthday speaks volumes. It shows that at the end of the day, no matter what they're going through, family is family and they support one another.

This weekend's selfie isn't the only powerful photo posted by Kim Kardashian, though. Let's take a look at the rest of Kim K's most influential selfies:

1. Supporting Caitlyn

As illustrated in the photo above, Kardashian has been nothing but supportive of Jenner's transition. Through these selfies, she is saying no matter what, family comes first, and that makes her an amazing daughter.

And even before Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair debut, Kardashian didn't shy away from voicing admiration for Jenner's courage.

2. Rallying For Hillary

Honestly, this selfie with Hillary Clinton was probably the best thing that happened Thursday night. There couldn't have been a better comeback to the GOP debate than Hillary inadvertently saying, "Sorry, I was too busy hanging with Kimye to hear all of the Republican candidates diss me."

Good for Kim for showing her support for a presidential candidate, which maybe will help inspire some people to care about the campaign. Whether it spurs people to vote for or against Hillz, it sheds light on the importance of heading to the polls next November.

3. Bonding With Her Sisters

Right around the time that news broke of Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick's split, Kim shared this selfie with her sisters. Showing that she and Khloe are there for Kourtney no matter what, this emphasizes that family always comes first.

4. Thanking The Troops

Showing her support for the military, Kim Kardashian took time to meet with these soldiers. She shared selfies from her visit and reminded everyone to take a moment to be thankful for the people fighting for our freedom overseas.

5. Feeling Her Look

Remember when Kim accidentally started an uproar for cropping her daughter out of a selfie? She reacted flawlessly, admitting she was feeling her look and asking the important question: "Can I live?!?!" Yes, Kim. You do you. You're allowed to live your life without the media critiquing your every move.

6. Posing Without Makeup

No makeup? No problem. Sure, she's known for always having a glam squad on hand, but this photo proves Kim isn't afraid to show her true self to the world (aka her 42 million followers).

7. Raising Awareness

Yes, the Ice Bucket Challenge is a year old, but through this selfie video, she raised awareness for such an important cause — ALS research. And that in itself is great.

So before you dismiss Kim K.'s next snapshot as shallow, take a moment to reconsider. These photos prove a selfie really can make a difference.
