It's Monday, which means it's the beginning of a new week filled with all kinds of celebrity romance rumors. For example, according to Radar Online, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are divorcing. Apparently, their 17-year marriage will soon be over — for good. According to an unnamed source, "For Will and Jada, holding it together these past few years has been tough because their marriage has been on life support for a long time." The source added, "They're exhausted from trying to maintain the façade of a happy union. They’ve decided to pull the plug in a carefully choreographed manner, [and] agree announcing their split at the end of the summer is the right move.”
(Update: Will Smith responded to the divorce rumors on his Facebook page, writing in part, "Jada and I are... NOT GETTING A DIVORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! : -) I promise you all - if I ever decide to divorce my Queen - I SWEAR I'll tell you myself!")
RadarOnline also reports that their marriage is ending with a "blockbuster secret divorce deal." An insider claims that both Smith and Pinkett Smith have "worked out a confidential settlement to protect their $240 million fortune, and prepare their kids [son Jaden, 17, and daughter Willow, 14] for the fallout."
You might be thinking to yourself, "Hasn't this rumor been going around for some time now?" Yes, you are absolutely correct. For the past few years, the Suicide Squad actor and Gotham actress' marriage has been put under the microscope resulting in all kinds of rumors from cheating to being spotted without wedding rings.
In June 2015, while chatting with Howard Stern, Pinkett Smith chatted about her reported "open marriage." She told the radio host,
Here's the deal with that, Howard, you've got to trust who you're with. And at the end of the day, I'm not here to be anybody's watcher. I'm not his watcher. He's a grown man. Here's what I trust — I trust that the man that Will is, is the man of integrity. So, he's got all the freedom in the world. As long as Will can look himself in the mirror and be OK, I'm good.
Of course, with a response like that, it's like adding fuel to the fire. Even before Pinkett Smith made that comment, there were rumors that Smith was having an affair with Margot Robbie, his Suicide Squad co-star. Furthermore, in August 2011, there were reports claiming Pinkett Smith and Marc Anthony had an affair. If that isn't enough, for several years now divorce reports have repeatedly surfaced surrounding these two. In 2013, Pinkett Smith wasn't wearing her wedding ring, which made others assume her marriage was over.
Do any of these rumors prove anything? Not really, because they all could easily be false reports — just like the most recent divorce news. With that said, believe what you will, but also remember this is one couple who's no stranger to rumors and laughing them off.
