Will 'BB17's Shelli & Clay Face A Double Eviction?

by Kadeen Griffiths

Big Brother Barbie and Ken are on their way out, and I couldn't be more excited about it. After weeks of them running the house and, worse, being smug enough to think they're utterly untouchable, James winning the competition to become the first solo HoH of the season has resulted in Shelli and Clay being up for eviction on Big Brother 17. That's right: the King and Queen of the house are sitting side-by-side on the block, and, spoiler alert for those who don't watch the live feeds, James has also won the Power of Veto, which means that, unless someone does something really stupid or some aggressive campaigning takes place between now and the Veto Ceremony on Wednesday, one member of the Clelli showmance is going home. However, is it possible that both of them might be on their way out instead? What if Shelli and Clay go home in a double eviction on Thursday, you guys?

It could happen. In the past, a double eviction has taken place when there was somewhere between six and eight house guests left. Right now on Season 17, there are twelve houseguests left, but there are also way more house guests on this season than have been on any season before. Between the addition of Jeff and Jackie from The Amazing Race, and the addition of Julia Nolan as a result of the Twin Twist, they're going to need to start culling these house guests and fast if they want to get down to a Final Two by the end of the summer. It's already August. Let's get this show on the road.

In addition, it's been three weeks since the last Big Brother Takeover. Twin Twist aside, the last time we had a proper take over was the Gronk Takeover in Week 3, and, quite frankly, that's a twist I'd rather forget. There can be no doubt that, whichever member of the Clelli showmance ends up staying in the house after the eviction this week, that member will be after James like a lion after a zebra. He knew about that risk going in and, thankfully, decided that was less important than taking down this Power Couple before they made it to the Final Two, but how awesome would it be if he didn't have to worry about that at all?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not Team James. The misogynistic comments he's made haven't been forgotten by me just because he's targeting Clelli. But Vanessa, Austin, Liz, or Julia can go after him in the absence of Ken and Barbie. I want them gone. At this point, however, I would have to say that the likelihood of Shelli and Clay going home in a double eviction are pretty slim. Traditionally, as I said, that only happens when there are less than ten house guests.

Perhaps now that we're down to a solo HoH, we'll have two weeks of double evictions to start thinning the numbers in the house, but I'm not going to hold my breath. It's unlikely that I would be so lucky as to get to see the end of the reign of Clelli once and for all in such a truly epic way. All I can really do is hope that Shelli is the one to go home over Clay — not because I don't love her more than I love Clay, but because Shelli is a competition beast and she will win next week and send James packing too soon.

Things change so quickly in the Big Brother house, it can be hard to keep up.
