One Direction Dropped A New Single Overnight

by Emma Lord

Just in case you needed another reason to get your Friday freak on, One Direction released a new single overnight, dropping the new track "Drag Me Down" in the wee early hours of the morning. So is "Drag Me Down" about Zayn Malik and his departure from the band? All four members of the band tweeted out links to the new song, which will mark the very first single released since Zayn Malik left — a mere day after he tweeted to announce his solo record deal. And while there is no doubt on the first listen that this has the potential to be a smash hit, the upbeat power anthem doesn't appear to be throwing any shade. Rather, the song is a testament to the power of a relationship, and how "with your love, nobody can drag me down." (CUE the bass drop that just revolutionized your workout playlist, y'all.)

The answer is yes, and boy howdy, is the Internet here for it. All four remaining members of the band tweeted out links to the new song this morning:

And from Harry Styles, a man of few words:

Unsurprisingly, #DragMeDown is already trending on Twitter, and fans are (justifiably) losing their minds. It's not every day 1D casually drops a single like it's Christmas in July.

You can find the new song on iTunes or Spotify, but fair warning: You may NEVER get this one out of your head.
