Steal Celeb Style for #NationalLipstickDay
Honestly, how awesome is it that National Lipstick Day exists? It really doesn't get much better than a whole day designated for the celebration of the best cosmetic invention ever. When I woke up this morning, my entire Instagram feed was flooded with #NationalLipstickDay posts, ranging from pretty product pics from some of my favorite brands, to equally pretty selfies from some of my favorite celebs — basically, it was (and will be for the rest of this glorious, glorious day) a smorgasbord of fabulousness. Some of the celebrity posts featured particularly gorgeous shades, and it got me thinking — what better way to celebrate than to do a little celeb-inspired shopping?
I mean, you've got Taylor Swift and her penchant for matte reds, and your favorite K-drama stars with their propensity towards shocking pinks — then, you've got all of the high-impact purples that have been making the rounds lately, as well as the recent trends towards orange. In a nutshell? Every color worn by every person ever is awesome — so let's do a little shopping based on a few of the best in the biz.
Coco Rocha
Does Coco Rocha ever not get it 100% right? To get her ultra-saturated purple look, you can't go wrong with NARS' popular Audacious line.
NARS Audacious Lipstick in Silvia, $32, NARS
Emma Stone
Ms. Stone wowed at the Oscars in pale green Elie Saab paired with delectable pale orange lippie.
Revlon HD Lipstick in Tulip, $7.19, Target
Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling's lip game is always on point, and this look is a particular favorite of mine — and luckily for us, she tells us exactly how to emulate her look. UNluckily for us, said style happens to come with a pretty hefty price tag, but as Donna Meagle and Tom Haverford would say — "Treat yo self!"
Tom Ford Lip Color in Violet Fatale, $50, Nordstrom
Chanel Lip Gloss in #175 Savage Grace, $39.99, Perfume Emporium
Taylor Swift
Taylor's signature red lip is admittedly quite fab — any classic, Old Hollywood, red will work just fine for the job, but the singer/songwriter herself has been known to favor NARS Dragon Girl.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl, $26, NARS
Jun Ji Hyun
I'm a pretty massive fan of Jun Ji Hyun, and her lipstick game in the popular K-drama My Love From Another Star is seriously covet-worthy. She sports a lot of shades throughout the series, but my favorite is this sheer-yet-vibrant pink.
IOPE Waterfit Lipstick #44, $25, Soko Glam
Lucy Hale
The Pretty Little Liars star used the holiday to promote her brand ambassadorship with mark. — by modeling her favorite shade (I'm guessing it's Cha Cha, but I'm not 100% sure):
mark. Lipclick Full Color Lipstick, $11, Avon Cosmetics
Joan Smalls
Joan Smalls wowed us all with her unexpected nude dress/purple lipstick combo at the 2014 Met Gala. Take a leaf from her book by taking a similarly high-impact shade out for a spin:
Iman Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick in Taboo, $10, Drugstore.com
What are you doing to celebrate National Lipstick Day? I don't know about you, but I've got my credit card number memorized and ready to go.
