7 Beauty Products That Belong In Your Fridge
Clear out some room in your fridge, beauty lovers. SheFinds recently revealed a slew of essential beauty products that belong in your fridge instead of on your bathroom counter! Time to raid your makeup bag.
Just like sunscreen needs to be kept in a dark cabinet and perfume can go bad if not stored in a cool place, every single beauty product has its ideal storage conditions. A little googling can go a long way in ensuring all of your favorite products last as long as possible.
What's surprising, though, is how many common beauty products actually benefit from being stored in the fridge. New York-based dermatologist Dendy Engelman shared, "The temperature [in the fridge] is stable, so [a product] doesn’t go through extreme heat or cold, which may affect the formulation or alter the consistency of the product.” Makes sense, right?
Beauty products aren't cheap and every single one is worth taking care of properly. Sadly, I've totally learned this lesson the hard way. After splurging on some seriously gorgeous lip colors, I left them on my bathroom window sill and came home to discover a tragically melted puddle of firecracker red. Whoops.
Don't let my sad story become yours! Check out the five products below to know which items to pull out of your makeup bag and pop into the fridge ASAP.
1. Lipsticks, Liners, And Balms
Bobbi Brown Lip Liner Pencil, $26, Nordstrom
Prevent a puddle nightmare by popping your lipsticks and lip balms in the fridge when you're not using them.
2. Eye Creams And Moisturizers
Clinique 'All About Eyes' Cream, $32-$54, Nordstrom
The cool temperatures will extend the shelf-life of the creams, as well as provide a refreshing, puffiness-reducing coolness for your skin. Win.
3. Eyeliner
Maybelline Waterproof Gel Pencil, $6, Amazon
Similar to how lipstick can turn soft, eyeliner does the same thing. Popping it in the fridge for ten to fifteen minutes before use ensures an effortless, on point application every time.
4. Natural Face Masks
Seaweed Mask, $10, Lush
Products like Lush's dreamy face masks all need to be stored in the fridge. Since their formulas are all natural and contain no preservatives, it's essential!
5. Facial Sprays And Toners
Mario Badescu Aloe and Rosewater Facial Spray, $7, Amazon
My roommate has an entire fridge shelf dedicated to her essential oil facial sprays. Given how long their intense, rich smells have lasted, she's doing something right! Better yet, cold toners and facial sprays shrink pores so your skin will look brighter with every spritz.
6. Anti-Itch Cream
Sarna Sensitive Skin Anti-Itch Cream, $10, Amazon
For the ultimate way to soothe a monster summer mosquito bite, always store your anti-itch creams in the fridge. Ahhhhhhhh sweet relief.
7. Nail Polish
OPI Nail Lacquer, $9, Amazon
Nothing sucks worse than gloppy nail polish. Sunlight and heat can really wreak havoc on your polish's color and thickness, so keeping it in the fridge ensures your polish will be smooth every time.
