First, it was it-girl and style icon Bella Hadid who started wearing the Y2K-era rhinestone tattoo. In an Instagram post over the summer, the model posed with a bedazzled butterfly tat on her hip, serving early 2000s chic. Now, the look has shown up at New York Fashion Week.

At designer Sandy Liang’s NYFW Spring/Summer 2023 show on Sept. 11, models strutted the runway in pink rhinestone temporary tattoos to accessorize the schoolgirl-chic clothes. Here, a model hits the catwalk with an S and L bedazzling her collarbone.

A dainty pink bow rhinestone tattoo rests on the collarbone of another model to accent the square neckline of this lavender-colored Sandy Liang dress — serving major placement inspo.

At a Kin launch party in June, Hadid was spotted wearing a butterfly-shaped rhinestone design adorning her bicep. The pink gemstones matched her dress (naturally).

If Hadid and it-designer Sandy Liang have anything to say about next season’s trends (um, they do), everyone is in for a serious Y2K revival by way of sparkly tats.
