The Longline Skirt Suit

In Seoul in 1992, Lady Di was seen in a longline skirt suit with chunky double-breasted buttons in gold and turquoise. It was created, albeit in a slightly darker hue, for the musical about her life.

The Cardigan

While this floral dress and red cardigan look is not a specific one from the archives, it draws upon the Princess’ early love for cardigans, whether styled with butter yellow overalls, floral midi skirts, or even jeans.

The Green Dress

To bring Prince William home from the hospital in 1982, Princess Diana iconically wore a green silk dress with tiny polka dots and a white necktie draped at the top, a look that was recreated exactly for the musical event.

The One-Sleeve Gown

Princess Diana was a huge fan of the one-shoulder silhouette, and there was a notable appearance at the Claridges Banquet in 1988 in a one-sleeved turquoise gown that showed up during the musical as well.

The Engagement Suit

Another iconic Princess Diana look was the blue skirt suit that she wore in her official engagement photos with Prince Charles. With a white pussy bow blouse, she showed off her equally bright blue engagement ring that now sits on daughter-in-law Kate Middleton’s finger.

The Black-and-Red Dress

Though not quite as talked-about as some of her more iconic looks, even Princess Diana’s Catherine Walker black and red dress from a Red Cross benefit in 1995 shows up on stage.

The Power Suit

Though not exact, this skirt suit in the musical was a clear nod to all of the ’80s and ’90s power suits Diana rocked like a pro. From Chanel tweed to menswear-inspired pin-striped, skirt suits were a major part of Lady Di’s uniform.
