The dresses. The makeup. The hair. This season’s runways brought no shortage of eye-catching looks on all fronts — including models’ fingertips. Here’s a look at the biggest nail trends from New York Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter 2022 shows.

Markarian’s Old Hollywood-Style Tips

Nail artist and KISS ambassador Gina Edwards took inspo from 1930s-era Hollywood glam, which translated into a variety of press-on designs — some in silvery glitter, others studded in pearls or crystals.

Jason Wu

Jason Wu’s Naked Nails

Brand founder and nail artist Deborah Lippmann used a neutral beige polish — specifically, her Naked shade — to compliment the bold, colorful styles in Wu’s show.

Tia Adeola

At Adeola’s F/W ‘22 show, models sported geode-style nail art in pastel blue and pink with stripes of shimmery gold.

Christian Cowan’s Dramatic Lengths

Cowan’s show went all-out with the nail look: Models wore press-ons in extremely long lengths and in all different shades (including baby pink and black). These were a perfect fit for the show’s ’80s influence.

Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler’s Deep Red

Nail artist and brand founder Jin Soon Choi went with minimalist manicures for an effortless feel. Some models wore a deep burgundy (JinSoon’s Audacity) and others wore a sheer milky shade (JinSoon’s Dew).

Kim Shui’s Multicolored French Tips

Shui’s F/W ‘22 show was all about retro glam. To complement the blue eyeshadow and mod hair, nail artist Kia Trey painted candy-colored French manicures on the models in shades that matched their outfits.

Brandon Maxwell

Brandon Maxwell’s Earth Tones

Choi also did the manicures at Maxwell’s F/W ‘22 show, but this time relied on this elegant earth-inspired neutral: a brick-red clay tone.

Sergio Hudson’s Silver Manis

Shimmering silver nails were seen on the runway at Hudson’s F/W ‘22 show, serving a subtle but luminescent pop.

Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano’s Blue Swirls

A color-blocked nail art at Siriano matched the various blues of the designer’s fall/winter collection. Edwards used OPI’s Can’t CTRL Me and Isn’t It Grand Avenue to create a fun statement mani.

Jonathan Simkhai’s Neutrals

ManiMe, a line of custom-printed gel nail stickers, provided a variety of neutral manicures that made for an understated yet chic vibe.

The Blonds’ Stiletto Tips

Neutral pink stiletto manicures were seen at The Blonds’ F/W ‘22 show, serving as the perfect pairing to the fierce cat eye and leather outfits.
