Drake & J. Lo Were Caught Kissing & Dancing
If you're on the Drake and Jennifer Lopez potential relationship look out, pull over a seat. We have much to discuss. As Elle relays via multiple Instagram posts, Drake and J. Lo were caught kissing and dancing at a party. But, before you jump for new, hot celeb relationship joy — yes, there's a but — there appears to be more to the story. *Cue X-Files opening sequence music*
First, we should probably get into the when, where, and how of it all. The when? According to the publication, Drake and Lopez canoodled on the dance floor on Thursday night. Where? At a "Winter Wonderland prom night" that would rival most '90s movie's interpretations of the sweet yet cliched event. But, wait. There's more! As Elle points out, at this prom, there appears to be a snippet of a new J. Lo and Drake song being played. Let's be real here, though. While both singers look positively amazing, they certainly aren't young enough to attend a prom at this point unless they're the chaperones. So, what's gives?
Well, there is a distinct possibility that Drake and Lopez were shooting a music video for their new song that is seemingly playing in the video. (Bustle has reached out to Drake and Lopez's reps regarding this possibility, but has yet to receive a response.)
To add fuel to the fire of this theory? J. Lo had an outfit change. It appears that she switches dresses from the one she's wearing while dancing to the one she's seen posing with Drake in a photo booth with. And, if you've ever been to prom, you know that there are no outfit changes. I personally spent weeks looking for my dress and, after my mother and aunt wanting to commit mutiny on me, I finally found the perfect one. Prom dresses are serious business. If this were a real "prom" of sorts, an outfit change wouldn't be necessary. At least, I don't think.
If you've also noticed while looking at the pictures, Lopez and Drake are decked out in crowns and sashes for some of them. And, in one video, you can catch the tail end of what seems to be them getting anointed Prom King and Queen of "Preston Hollywood High."
Curiouser and curiouser, J. Lo's BFF, Leah Remini and her husband, Angelo Pagan were also at the prom. And, while the couple shared multiple sweet photos together at the event, the last one Remini posted may just give it all away.
In her caption she wrote, "It's a wrap. My honey had one too many tonight. Time to take him home. Nighty night." Now, I'm fully aware that the term "It's a wrap" has become a fairly common figure of speech, but when used in this particular context, it feels way more purposeful. And sure, when filming, people typically don't drink real alcohol, but this felt more like a semi-real party under the guise of a mock prom to keep things feeling authentic. Besides, Remini could also just be kidding around about her husband drinking a little too much, especially if this was all a ruse.
My final assessment is that this all seems just a little too perfect. Shots of both Drake and J. Lo slow dancing, sensually dancing, and evidence of them serenading each other? Who, at a real prom, has the time to capture another couple's every move? Other than an especially creepy pal or a chaperone spy sent to alert your parents, basically no one. This has all the makings of an epic music video, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
