Screenshot via Apple Apple announced the new iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro at their annual Keynote event on Sept. 14. The phones boast an upgraded camera system and better battery life, among other changes. Read on for more about the latest suite of phones from Apple, which will go on sale on Sept. 17.

Colors

Screenshot via Apple The iPhone 13 goes technicolor, adding five new colors to the palette: pink, red, midnight blue, white, and black. For the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, you can choose from graphite, gold, silver, and an all-new sierra blue.

Design

Screenshot via Apple The biggest update that you’ll notice at first glance is a smaller selfie camera notch. Size-wise, the phones are the same as the 12 series. iPhone 13 Mini will be 5.4-inches; iPhone 13, 6.1-inches; iPhone 13 Pro, 6.1-inches; and iPhone 13 Pro Max, 6.7-inch.

Camera

Screenshot via Apple The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini sport cameras at a diagonal angle. The 12-megapixel wide angle lens will take in 50% more light, leading to better photos. On the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, the upgraded cameras will support macrophotography (aka super detailed close-up shots).

Screenshot via Apple If you liked Portrait Mode for still photos, you’ll love Cinematic Mode, the video equivalent. All models will have this high-def filmic setting that allows you to shift focus to different subjects on screen.

Battery Life

Screenshot via Apple These will be the longest-lasting iPhones yet. The new iPhone 13 mini battery will last 1.5 hours longer than iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 will last 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12. Ditto for the iPhone Pro and Pro Max, respectively.

Storage

Screenshot via Apple The most basic models of the 13 series will start with 128GB of storage, which is more than the iPhone 12. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max series will have a 1T storage option, making it the largest storage update ever. That’s a lot of photo dumps.

Price

Screenshot via Apple The price structure for the iPhone 13 series mirrors that of the 12 series. The iPhone 13 Mini is the cheapest, starting at $699; iPhone 13 at $799; the iPhone 13 Pro at $999; and most expensive is the iPhone 13 Pro Max, at $1099.

When Can I Buy The iPhone 13?

The phones will be available for pre-order beginning Sept. 17, and will start shipping on Sept. 24.
