Another classic is on Netflix: beloved ’90s sitcom Saved by the Bell. Starting Sept. 15, viewers can relive the nostalgia as Bayside High’s crew navigates high school before attending college (in the spinoff) and marrying (in the TV movies) — all on the streaming platform.

Lark Voorhies, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dustin Diamond, and Dennis Haskins already played the same roles in another show before it was retooled as SBTB in 1989. After, Tiffani Thiessen, Mario Lopez, and Elizabeth Berkley joined. Here's what the cast has been up to since.

Prior to their breakout roles as onscreen couple Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski (who later marry in the SBTB: Wedding in Las Vegas movie), Gosselaar had TV appearances in shows like The Wonder Years and The Twilight Zone, while Thiessen was a model and a Miss Junior America.

Thiessen has since starred in Beverly Hills, 90210, and, more recently, White Collar and Netflix’s Alexa & Katie, which earned her an Emmy nom. She even hosted her Dinner at Tiffani's cooking show for three years and has two kids with her husband, Brady Smith.

Meanwhile, Gosselaar found it harder to break out of his role as Zack. “I was a character. I was typecast,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2019. He eventually landed roles in the films Heist, Precious Cargo, and The Passage, plus recurring roles in shows NYPD Blue and mixed-ish.

Before Lopez became Bayside High’s star athlete A.C. Slater, he had already been doing the rounds as a child star, nabbing small parts on a.k.a. Pablo, Kids Incorporated, and The Golden Girls. He later reprised his role as A.C. on the rest of the SBTB projects.

Lopez has since appeared on Dancing With the Stars, George Lopez, and Nip/Tuck, but it’s his hosting career that really took off. He hosted The X Factor, America's Best Dance Crew, and Extra, among others, before landing his current role as an anchor at Access Hollywood.

Voorhies and Diamond played the stylish Lisa Turtle and Samuel "Screech" Powers on both the canceled Good Morning, Miss Bliss series and SBTB. She had only one prior stint on Small Wonder, while Diamond was in a few shows, including The Wonder Years.

After joining shows like Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful post-SBTB, Voorhies took a surprising acting hiatus. Last February, on The Dr. Oz Show, she revealed that she took time off because she was living with schizoaffective thought disorder.

Diamond's post-SBTB life was marked by controversy: He released a sex tape; wrote a salacious “tell-all” book, Behind the Bell (and produced its movie adaptation); and was convicted of two misdemeanor charges. On Feb. 1, 2021, at 44 years old, Diamond passed away from lung cancer.

Berkley already appeared in multiple ’80s projects like Frog, Silver Spoons, and Day by Day before landing the role of uber-smart, feminist class president Jessie Spano at 15. In the 2020 reboot, Jessie returns as the guidance counselor after writing successful parenting books.

Berkley has since starred as Nomi in cult-favorite Showgirls, bagged roles in First Wives Club, The L Word, and New Girl, and even competed on Season 17 of Dancing with the Stars. Like her onscreen counterpart, Berkley also wrote a self-help book, “Ask Elizabeth.”

Of course, SBTB wouldn’t be the same without Haskins’ iconic portrayal of principal Richard Belding. Prior to the show, he had a recurring stint on Dukes of Hazzard and a guesting on Magnum PI: Autumn Warrior. He also appeared in most of the SBTB spinoffs.

No role after the show quite stuck with Haskins, but he’s done his fair share of guest appearances on several series, including New Girl, Mad Men, How I Met Your Mother, and even Victorious as Mr. Belding.
