In 2007, Sandra Oh posed alongside Ellen Pompeo at a pre-Emmys party. “She’s my person,” Oh’s character Cristina Yang said about Pompeo’s Meredith Grey on Grey’s Anatomy. In 2021, rumors swirled that Oh may return to the show, which would bring these on-screen BFFs back together. Grey’s is currently in its 17th season after premiering in 2005.
Sandra Oh, who had earned five consecutive Emmy nominations for her role as Cristina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy from 2005 to 2009, posed here in 2008 with Patrick Dempsey (Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd) at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards. Oh is now a 12-time Emmy nominee.

In 2013, Sandra Oh joined her Grey’s Anatomy co-stars Justin Chambers (Alex Karev) and Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) for a half-marathon benefiting CureMito!, an organization dedicated to curing mitochondrial disease, which Wilson’s daughter Sarina had been diagnosed with three years prior.
