The Crown is known for its production value, along with its incredible costumes. Princess Diana, portrayed by Elizabeth Debicki, had many iconic outfits throughout her lifetime.

The Crown made sure to recreate as many of them as they could in Season 5.

Although we do get some dazzling looks from Di, “There’s very little of her in public wearing glamorous dresses,” Amy Roberts, The Crown’s costume designer told Vanity Fair.

But that doesn’t mean we get none! Di wore this grey, beaded, halter-neck dress by Catherine Walker to an event at the Serpentine Gallery in June 1995.

The swimsuit seen in the first and final episodes of Season 5 is eerily similar to the one Diana wore while in the South of France with her sons in July 1997.

Mohamed Fayed invited Diana and her sons to spend the summer on his superyacht, where she struck up a romance with Dodi Fayed.

The opening episode shows Charles and Diana in Italy on what is promised to her as a “second honeymoon.” Debicki dons narrow shades and a colorful sundress.

This bright floral dress Diana wears IRL in Seville is very similar to the one worn in that episode.

Perhaps the most iconic look recreated in Season 5 is the Christina Stambolian LBD (aka the Revenge Dress). Di wore it to a Vanity Fair party at the Serpentine Gallery in London the day after Charles admitted to his affair in 1994.

“She was claiming the space. The way she walked out of that car, the luminosity, the strength of her as that car door opened, she was so fast and forward,” Debicki told British Vogue about the moment.

Will lavender power suits have a major fashion moment because of The Crown? TBD!

Along with colorful suits, Princess Diana often wore plaid and tartan ensembles.

She accompanied both her sons and Charles in September 1995. William (and eventually Harry) both attending Eton broke royal tradition, as Charles went to Gordonstoun in Scotland.

Diana is seen in an oversized Harvard crewneck and biker shorts in Season 5.

In real life, Di pioneered this now famous look of an oversized crewneck and shorts — and the subsequent Princess Diana season trend.

Another stylish turtleneck and blazer moment!

Diana sported this similar mint green plaid jacket in October 1991 during a trip to Canada with her sons.

Diana’s BBC Panorama interview was also recreated in Season 5 with extra attention going to the costume. “She’s very straight—quite businesslike, isn’t she, in that black jacket, gold earrings, white top,” Roberts said.

“And I think we chose occasions—relating to divorce scenes—where she goes back slightly to her power suits. We did a bit of a parody on a gray lawyer’s suit with a sensible bag. When she visits the queen for one of her final meetings, she’s wearing a lilac suit. It’s powerful but not threatening to the queen,” Roberts added.

There’s a really good chance everyone is going to ask for this red ’90s puffer jacket for the holidays this year.
