9 Photos Of Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling As Rollerblading Barbie & Ken

Greta Gerwig’s buzzy live-action Barbie — with Margot Robbie as the titular doll and Ryan Gosling as Ken — sends Twitter into a frenzy every time new photos from the set are released. Remember that first look photo of Gosling as a platinum blonde, denim-clad, midriff-baring Ken?

The stars were spotted filming in Venice on June 27, and they looked every bit electric in their ’80s-inspired neon ’fits. Robbie wore a printed leotard with cycling shorts, and Gosling sported aa polo and shorts set.

The photos are already making the rounds on Twitter. “These photos of Barbie are curing my depression,” user @kodiakclouds wrote.

Fans of the Mattel toy immediately saw the outfit reference to the original 1994 Hot Skatin’ Barbie doll with the same rollerblades and print. User @cybrxangel tweeted, “i’m so grateful to the barbie movie costume department specifically bc this is perfect.”

While Gosling’s costume isn’t exactly patterned after the Hot Skatin’ Ken doll counterpart — save for the neon green skates — Gosling looked like a match made for Robbie’s Barbie in a matching head-to-toe neon look.

The woman behind the film’s already viral outfits is Gerwig’s frequent collaborator Jacqueline Durran, the Oscar-winning costume designer of Little Women.

At some point, Robbie was spotted skating solo wearing a white button-down, presumably in-between takes. Robbie’s skating skills aren’t a secret and have been on display in her movies — on the ice for I, Tonya, and on the roller derby as Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey.

Thank goodness they were filming in public, because the film’s July 21, 2023 release date is too long of a wait.
