Her colleague Dr. Randall Mindy is played by DiCaprio, who said the film would “hopefully” spark positive environmental change: “But at this point, I’m a Debbie Downer with the system. You’re asking the wrong guy. To me, it’s about a little less conversation and a lot more action.”

Timothée Chalamet plays Yule, a fan of Kate’s who excitedly meets her. Lawrence joked filming with him was “annoying.” “Timothée was just excited to be out of the house. I think it was his first scene... I just remember being in absolute misery that day. But [he’s] very nice.”

Jonah Hill appears as Jason, Orleans’ son, Chief of Staff, and an avid drug user who cares as little about the comet as he does about his career. DiCaprio recently said, “Everyone broke character because he’s a comedic and improvisational mastermind. That’s my boy Jonah Hill!”

Cate Blanchett and Tyler Perry play Brie Evantee and Jack Bremmer, who interview the astronomers on The Daily Rip, a talk show. While on set, Perry said, “I had to [remind] myself, ‘Don’t come out of character because you’re sitting here with these Oscar winners.’”

Kid Cudi and Grande are rapper DJ Chello and pop star Riley Bina, respectively, whose recent breakup is front-page tabloid news. The two recorded a duet for the film, “Just Look Up,” which seems to find the A-list exes warning their fans about the deathly comet.
