12 Celebs Pick Their 2021 Summer Anthems At The VMAs

BTS’ third U.S. No. 1 hit “Butter” earned the Song of the Summer award at the 2021 MTV VMAs. The group, which includes RM, V, Jimin, Jungkook, Suga, Jin, and J-Hope, also won the Group of the Year and Best K-Pop awards.

“Butter” was also named the Song of the Summer by Billboard, but ahead of the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, Bustle asked 12 celebrities, including the D’Amelio sisters, Ashnikko, and Drag Race winner Symone, to pick their personal favorite Songs of the Summer on the red carpet.

Kandy Muse: “My song right now is ‘Future Starts Now’ by Kim Petras.”

Symone: “It was probably [Lil Nas X’s] ‘MONTERO [(Call Me By Your Name)].’ We played that a lot in the living room, darling.”

Ashnikko: “[Lady Gaga’s] Chromatica remix album [Dawn of Chromatica] in its entirety.”

Tainy: “I was bumping and listening to a lot of The Weeknd. ‘Save Your Tears,’ for me, was amazing. [Justin] Bieber also. I really vibed to the one with Giveon [and Daniel Caesar]. ‘Peaches’ is amazing.”

Tate McRae: “‘Stay’ by [The Kid] Laroi and Justin [Bieber]. Laroi’s the sweetest kid ever, and the song is so catchy. I can never get it out of my head.”

Dixie D’Amelio: “‘Beautiful Mistakes’ by Maroon 5 and Megan Thee Stallion.”
