Carlton Banks Has A Brand New Gig

by Tanya Ghahremani

Just call it the Carltonaissance: After winning Season 19 of Dancing With The Stars in November 2014, it looks like Alfonso Ribeiro is sticking with ABC. As announced by host Tom Bergeron in Tuesday's episode of Dancing With The Stars, Alfonso Ribeiro is joining America's Funniest Home Videos as the new host. He'll be taking over for Bergeron — who currently hosts both AFV and DWTS — when he leaves at the end of AFV's Season 25.

The news was confirmed by executive producer Vin Di Bona in a press release. "After receiving hundreds of inquiries, stacks of video submissions and a very close audition race, one smile, one funny and sincere delivery became our standout favorite – Alfonso Ribeiro," Di Bona said. "We look forward to Alfonso leading AFV into the next generation of family friendly viewership."

As a diehard Carlton Banks fan — so much so that I have a shirt with his face on it, no lie — this is pretty much the best news I've heard since...well, ever. Ribeiro is an amazing comedic presence, so he's an amazingly fitting choice for AFV, and it could mean more renditions of the Carlton dance in our television future. Fact: There can never be enough renditions of the Carlton dance on television.

AFV will return with Season 26 this fall.
