Those of you who tuned into season one of The Bachelorette in 2003 probably aren't still watching it anymore — and ABC knows this. So, how do they combat declining viewership of what was once their most popular franchise? Simple: Play on the nostalgia factor. According to E!, original Bachelorette couple Trista and Ryan Sutter will renew their vows for their ten-year anniversary, and, of course, the special will be broadcast on ABC.
On Trista and Ryan's part, the whole thing is actually pretty sweet — the couple has been together ever since their season ended ten years ago, and according to Trista in a new interview with Good Morning America , the two chock up their marriage's success to good timing: "I think if you compare The Bachelor and Bachelorette to real world, it's probably not that different in that how many relationships do you go through before you find the one that you want to spend the rest of your life with...but we just had all the components — trust, honesty, respect, love, commitment, friendship, humor — you know, all of those things wrapped into one."
The special will reportedly air on Jan. 19 as part of ABC's "Juan-uary" — a month-long special to promote the upcoming Bachelor, Juan Pablo Galavis. See what they did there, with the "Juan" and the "January"? Aren't they clever?
Apparently, during "Juan-uary," four different specials related to The Bachelor and The Bachelorette will air — including Trista and Ryan's vow renewal in January. Additionally, in February, the network will air the most recent Bachelor couple, Catherine Giudici and Sean Lowe's wedding. Say it with me now: "Awwww, reality television love."
