Shots Fired At Tennessee Naval Reserve
On Thursday morning, an active shooter opened fire Chattanooga, Tennessee's Naval Reserve Center and another military facility in Chattanooga. Four people were killed in the shooting, and the gunman is also dead. A police officer was also injured in the gunfire. The nearby Chattanooga State Community College was also on lockdown during Thursday afternoon, writing on its website that there was an active shooter nearby. Mayor Andy Berke told press it was a "horrific incident in our community," and a no-fly zone over Chattanooga was enforced until the threat passed.
"We are treating this as an act of domestic terrorism," said U.S. Attorney Bill Killian in a 3 p.m. press conference. Authorities noted that they believe the incident to be a single-shooter situation, and have not uncovered a motive.
