Kate's Cute Pleated Skirt Vs. The Wind

by Sara Tan

Pleated skirts are no longer reserved for school teachers and Betty Draper anymore: they're for princesses. On a blustery day in England, Kate Middleton stepped out in an adorable navy pleated skirt, showing off her long, duchess-y legs. She was a vision in all of fall's greatest trends — a fitted moto jacket, navy suede pumps, and a perfect clutch to match.

When the Duchess leaned over to talk to a younger fan who gifted her a bouquet, the Duchess had a bit of a Marilyn Monroe moment, revealing more of her tights than she probably had hoped. But even though the wind tried to give everyone a free show, Middleton handled the breezy conditions with poise.

According to Glamour, her preppy moto coat was, of course, Max Mara, a favorite of the Duchess (they even named a coat after her). Notice the beautiful zipper details and rounded collar. It's not your typical boxy moto jacket, but a more refined and classic version, which suits Middleton to a T.

Our favorite piece of the outfit, the pleated skirt, was from Orla Kiely. We love how it falls right above the knee, a totally flattering length, especially if you have her legs to fill it. This was not the first time Middleton's supported the designer. Just last week, she was spotted wearing the same Orla Kiely coatdress she wore in 2012, further confirming that even the duchess recycles outfits from her closet.

And those blue suede pumps! Which just so happen to match her blue suede clutch. Sometimes, being too matchy-matchy can be too much, but in this case, it's just the right amount that it's actually impressive.

I'm totally adding this look to my Fall pinspiration board. I'm not sure I could handle a windy situation as well as the Duchess, but I hope to look as good as she did trying!
