Congrats are in order for Professor Severus Snape. That's right, Alan Rickman married Rima Horton, his partner of 50 years! How romantic is that? Rickman revealed the exciting news to Germany's Bild newspaper. In 1977, the two moved in together, and now they are officially calling one another husband and wife. Rickman revealed, “We are married. Just recently. It was great, because no one was there. After the wedding in New York we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and ate lunch.”
Simple? Check. Quaint? Check. Romantic? Check. What more do you need than that? Clearly, all Rickman and Horton wanted for their special day was to be together, while not making a huge deal out of their nuptials. As for the ring, Rickman said his wife didn't want anything flashy, so he purchased a $200 band that "she never wears."
According to Huffington Post UK, Horton is a Labour Party member, served as a councillor in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and was also an economics lecturer at Kingston-upon-Thames University. Well, well, well, it looks like Horton and Rickman both know what it's like to educate others, even if Rickman just did it as Snape in the Harry Potter movies. Do you think the two ever discuss the subjects at Hogwarts? I can only hope.
Who else is thrilled for Rickman and his real-life Lily Potter? Congrats to the happy couple!
