JLo Drops Jaws At MTV Movie Awards

by Marie Southard Ospina

My heart has had a soft spot for JLo since my mom bought the VHS of Selena in 1997 and introduced my six-year-old self to the wonders of Jenny from the block. And Jennifer Lopez at MTV Movie Awards tonight is reminding me just why. In the years since that classic film, I've lost interest in her tunes, but not so much in her sartorial choices — namely on the red carpet.

Jennifer Lopez is most renowned fashion-wise, perhaps, for the iconic 2000 Versace dress heard round the world (you know, that green, sheer, cut-down-to-the-belly-button number). In the years since, however, she's managed to preserve that daring spirit despite slightly more toned down ensembles (like her Elie Saab gown at this year's Oscars). But no matter how revealing or high-necked; no matter how long or short, Jennifer's red (or blue) carpet appearances never fail to drop the jaws.

JLo is on MTV's carpet for her nomination as "Best Scared As Sh*t Actress" for her role in The Boy Next Door. Your views on the erotic thriller aside, there can be no denying that JLo is killing it in this LBD mini with her traditional low-cut neckline. The MTV Movie Awards are, unlike the aforementioned Oscars, more of a chance to go experimental and flat out sexy queen with one's red carpet outfit. And Jenny did just that.

So yep: She stayed true to herself whilst making a bold fashion choice. And isn't that just the best (and most important) combination ever?

But who would expect anything different from the woman who looks this fierce before getting ready?
