The Lob Club Has Its Newest Member

The bob/lob club is ready to welcome its newest member: Ellie Goulding got a lob, and though her long locks were oh-so-covetable, the shorter 'do definitely makes her look far more sophisticated. Could this possibly mean a new direction for her music, too?

The 27-year-old stepped out in London on Monday night for a dinner to celebrate the opening of Balmain's London store, debuting a sleek and short chopped cut, which she wore softly blown out. Her previous mermaid length blonde hair now hits just above the shoulder, with a few choppy layers for some texture.

In a floor-length, glittering dress with a plunging neckline and strappy black heels, Goulding looked both sophisticated and stunning. And the British singer was obviously excited to show off her new look, as just a couple hours before the event, she posted a picture on Instagram captioned, "Getting ready for the beautiful Balmain dinner @Balmain HAI HAIR CUT." Her hair (and dress) were certainly head-turners.

As tired as we probably all are of celebrities getting lobs and bobs, you have to admit — this one looks pretty great. I wonder if she got some hair inspiration from her pal Taylor Swift?
