Here's some good news for a certain actress! According to Us Weekly, Ellen Barkin is engaged to Ben Emmerson, a British barrister and Queen’s counsel, who also happens to be Amal Clooney's colleague. Apparently, the two met at Amal and George Clooney's wedding, so, obviously, the two should start their own matchmaking business. Per an insider, Barkin is "so happy and in love again" and got engaged over the holidays.
(Update, Feb. 19: According to Us Weekly, Ellen Barkin has called off her engagement. A source who spoke with the publication said, "She didn't know him well enough [to marry him]. She got swept up in the moment.")
The same insider added,
Ellen met him at George and Amal’s wedding and they totally hit it off. It happened quickly but she’s totally fallen for him and flies to see him all the time. He is really handsome and smart and charming and swept her off her feet.
Reportedly, Barkin couldn't help but fall for his charm and intelligence, especially since he specializes in human rights law, public international law, and international crime law. It also appears the Clooneys are happy for their friends. The source said,
George and Amal love them together! They both love Ellen and Ben so they think this is so great and love that they made a great match happen.
See? Before we know it, George and Amal will have their very own matchmaking business. Now that the two found one another, they clearly want to help others fall in love too. I think it's safe to say: mission accomplished!
If true, let's give Barkin and Emmerson a big congratulations!
